New Orleans

New Orleans, Louisiana is a fun place to visit! It is located on the Mississippi River and near the Gulf of Mexico. Nicknamed “Big Easy” it is known for its round-the-clock nightlife.  It has a trendy downtown with upscale shopping.  The streets are always busy with entertainment galore.  Most known for the street parties at Mardi Gras!  Take a break and listen to some Jazz and Blues music.  Be adventurous and go on a swamp tour.  Are you a foodie?  This is the place to be for you with inspiration from African, American, and French cuisine.

The Marriott on Canal Street is where we stayed and it was centrally located and within walking distance to many areas.  It is located in the French Quarter which makes it easy to get around.  The street cars are located two blocks away which will take you to the Garden District and the other end of town where the Historic homes are located.  We were two blocks from the famous Bourbon Street and two blocks the other way was the Casino and mall.

There are many amazing restaurants to eat at!  However, my favorite spot was at Café Du Monde for Beignets!  The coffee was delicious as well. We did eat at Brennan’s which is known for Banana’s Foster so of course we ordered that for dessert! It is prepared tableside and the original owner invented this dessert.   Antoine’s Restaurant is a must in my opinion as well.  Many Presidents have eaten here!

Will you be there during football season?  Stop and see a Saints Game in the Superdome!  Do you love History?  Then the WWII museum is a must for you!  We loved going through this interactive Museum.  Want to see an amazing Cathedral?  St. Louis Cathedral is absolutely gorgeous.  Mardi Gras World is cool place if you want to see where the floats are made. You must visit a cemetery while in New Orleans.  They are all buried above ground which is a neat thing to see. I would suggest doing the Voodoo cemetery tour and a Swamp tour.  The haunted stories are really interesting. The swamp tour we did was an airboat one because the kids wanted to go fast at times.  We really enjoyed it and were able to see many alligators and feed them too.  Again, if you like food the Food Tour will be right up your alley!  This town will leave you anything but bored.
