Like so many of you, my family loves to vacation at Walt Disney World, Orlando. Sure, we love the rides and the shows, the amazing cast members, and the fantastical ambiance they create; but, as my husband would say, the food might be the best part! Today I will be running down a list of our family’s top ten favorite snack foods at Disney World:
In my experience people tend to fall into two camps when it comes to this snack – they either love it or don’t care for it. Our family falls into the former group. This snack involves a bread roll filled with custard and topped with icing and coconut. What I love most about School Bread is that it’s not too sweet, so it is a nice mid-afternoon snack if you find yourself near Norway in the Epcot world showcase.
Sometimes you just want to have a treat that’s tried and true, and very few things are as comforting as a warm, chewy mickey-shaped pretzel. Grab a side of melted cheese or, if you’re feeling adventurous, a side of melted chocolate, and enjoy some salty goodness!
You might be wondering why I would include cotton candy on this list. After all, there are so many goodies at Disney World, why waste precious tummy space on something as ordinary as spun sugar. Here’s the deal though, you haven’t had cotton candy until you’ve visited the cotton candy artist at the China Pavilion in Epcot. This cotton candy can take on different cool shapes and designs… my personal favorite is the flower shaped cotton candy!
If you find yourself in need of a pick-me-up at Hollywood Studios and you’re near Toy Story Land, stop by the Lunchbox and pick up a Tart! These wonderful pastries are stuffed with all kinds of gooey goodness.
Once again, we are going a bit traditional with our snacking choice, but it’s definitely worth it. You can find candy apples throughout the Disney parks, and while they’re delicious in all shapes and sizes, you might want to pick up a “special” candy apple decorated like a favorite character!
Alright, things are getting serious now as we enter into our top five!
When it’s getting hot outside there is nothing like ice cream, so grab a chocolate-covered vanilla ice cream bar in the shape of Mickey’s head. This treat is a classic!
For our number five entry, we head back to Epcot, this time to the Germany Pavilion. Here, we will visit Karamell – Kuche and pick up some amazing caramel popcorn. This isn’t just any caramel either, it’s Werthers Original; in fact, it’s the only place in the world you are going to be able to visit a free-standing Werther’s Original Caramel Shop.
Disney World’s Beach Club Resort boasts one of the yummiest snacks you’ll find at any Disney property. The Kitchen Sink Sundae boasts cookies, cake, candy, fruit, and, well, I’d go on but there are 28 ingredients in this cornucopia of awesome flavors!
Occasionally, it’s a good idea to step outside of the parks and pay a visit to some of the amazing Disney resorts. One of the best snacks you will find at Walt Disney World resides at the Port Orleans Resort. There, in classic New Orleans fashion, you can get your hands on some amazing beignets, and they’re shaped like Mickey Mouse!
I know, I know, putting this at number one almost seems unfair, but honestly, Dole Whips are a creation that would fit right in on Mount Olympus. As soon as our family starts planning a new Walt Disney World adventure, my husband immediately wants to know how often he will be near a Dole Whip stand… I think he believes that any day at Disney without a Dole Whip is a missed opportunity.
Ultimately, you can’t go wrong snacking at Walt Disney World, Orlando. There are so many scrumptious options that it is pretty much impossible to try them all in one trip!
