Universal Studios Florida in Universal Orlando Resort is a theme park full of fun for the whole family. Take it from someone with plenty of experience, it is easy to work up an appetite while walking through shops, watching shows, and riding awesome roller coasters. Of course, as you are making your way through the park the scent of delicious foods is constantly wafting through the air from restaurants and quick service vendors, making it difficult to not think about your next meal. While there are a multitude of dining options in the park, if you are craving something from the sea, the choice for dining is easy: Lombard’s Seafood Grill.
Set right on the water in the heart of the park, Lombard’s decor and architecture seemingly transports its guests to their favorite beachside pier. This restaurant makes me feel the most relaxed, almost like I’ve spent a day soaking up the sun on the beach and now we’re capping off the day with a family meal.
The menu at Lombard’s is exactly what you would expect from a nice seafood eatery, but it also has a few tasty tricks up its sleeve that are sure to leave you completely satisfied. For an appetizer, I highly recommend a seafood classic, the calamari. The dish is fried perfectly and the marinara dipping sauce is the perfect complement to the crunchy, salty squid. For the more adventurous guest, the Tuna Poke’ bowl (sorry, we started eating it before I could grab a picture) is one of the best I’ve ever tried. You could even order it for a meal. The tuna and veggies are always fresh, and the chef uses the perfect amount of soy-garlic sauce.
For the main course, you can’t really go wrong with anything on the menu as it’s all cooked and seasoned perfectly. However, if I had to make a recommendation, it would be the Catch of the Day. The last time I went to Lombard’s this is what I ordered (it happened to be swordfish, which I ordered blackened). The fish was excellent, as was the sauce and the couscous. I should also mention that the portion sizes will leave you struggling to make it through your meal because you’ll be full, but still craving more!
For dessert, I have to stress just how good the Key Lime Pie tastes! In fact, I ordered the cheesecake (which was great in its own right) and my husband ordered the key lime pie…I ended up eating most of his (sorry honey!). Additionally, my husband heartily recommended the adults in the group try a Fish House Punch. This tropical concoction combines rum with peach, lemon, and orange flavors. It is a wonderful way to cool down after a hot day of walking through the park.
It’s true there are many options for dining at Universal Orlando Resort, and the truth is that you really can’t go wrong with any of them. Lombard’s Seafood Grill is special though, not only because it is a seafood restaurant, but also because the awesome atmosphere sets it apart as one of the best restaurants in the park.
