At The Core

This week, Jamie, Ashley, and Erin discuss their recent cruise to Alaska on Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas.  They cruised in early August, and it was a great experience.

They had a Pineapple Escapes group on the ship – Erin’s family, Jamie’s family, Ashley’s family, Courtney and her friend Nick, and two of Ashley’s brothers-in-law and their family.  It was fun to do our own adventures and excursions and then meet back up on the ship to discuss.  I think we all had very different overall experiences, but that is one of the perks of cruising – especially with a group or a multi-generational family – there are things to do and experiences for everyone!

Jamie, Ashley, and Erin all flew in early to explore Seattle.  Seattle is a great city with lots to see, do, and explore.  They recommend Chihuly Gardens and Glass, the Space Needle, and Pike Place Market!  The original Starbucks was neat too!

The cruise was on Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas, which is one of Royal’s Quantum-class ships and was perfect for the weather and location.  There were lots of indoor activities and options and indoor and heated pools, plus many great dining options!  Highlights were Two70, the Love and Marriage game show, the North Star, rock wall, flow rider, iFly, and the SeaPlex!

It was very rainy, which made some of our ports less fun, but overall we enjoyed the ports and exploring Alaska.  There are many different types of excursions available – raft rides, Jeep tours, hikes, salmon hatcheries, dog sledding, and so much more!  Your favorite Pineapple Escapes agent can help you find the perfect excursions for your family or group!

One of the most important parts about packing for Alaska is packing layers and rain gear!  Jamie’s family had these North Face rain jackets and they were so nice – a perfect layer to stay dry.  Ashley and Erin also throw in some of their top packing recommendations for Alaska!
