Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano

Is Mama Melrose’s Ristorante the best kept secret at Hollywood Studios? This Italian eatery with a California twist is a quiet place to enjoy Italian food. This dining location is in Hollywood Studios and theme park admissions is necessary to eat at this location. You can easily use Disney transportation to arrive at Hollywood Studios. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante is located on Grand Avenue in the Back Lot, its neighbors are the Muppets! You can enjoy lunch and dinner daily; lunch is served from 10:45 AM to 3:55 PM and dinner is from 4:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

This ristorante offers all your favorite, home-cooked Italian favorites, Caesar salad, garlic bread, olives, calamari, pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parm and so much more! The offerings of dessert are just as good, tiramisu, gelato, flourless chocolate cake and lemon sorbet. The kids can enjoy pizza, spaghetti or chicken. We like this ristorante because it is out of the way and quiet! It’s a great ristorante to cool off and get an offering besides the typical theme park food. It’s hard to pick a menu favorite but we usually share mozzarella sticks, followed by chicken parm or New York strip steak and finished with a mini cannoli trio (great for sharing after a filling meal). With prices starting at $15 and going up to $34.99, this is a great place to enjoy a great meal for a reasonable price. The dress code is theme park casual, shorts and t-shirts are welcome!

Mama Melrose does lose points on the theming, with children it is not the best theme in the park. This location is best for older children and adults. We like it because the food makes it for us! Fun fact: it is one of the original restaurants from when MGM (Hollywood Studios’ first name) opened! A positive here is that day of dining is usually available. You can sign up for the walk-up list. This is easy to do on the My Disney Experience mobile app, click join walk up list and it will send you a text (to the number you have in your account) when your table is ready.

Overall, we enjoy this ristorante, its theming isn’t the greatest, but the food and drinks make up for what the decor lacks. Give it a try and let us know what you think! The Disney Dining Plan is accepted here, and reservations are recommended 60 days in advance, as this is a fan favorite. A walk-up reservation might be available but is not a guarantee. Disney Visa card holders, Vacation Club and annual passholders receive a discount on food here as well. Order a cake at this location for any occasion in the My Disney Experience app, for an additional charge.

If you need to cancel your reservation, you cancel on the My Disney Experience app up to 2 hours prior to the reservation. If you do not, the credit card used to hold the reservation will be charged a per person fee for failure to show. The policy of the restaurant is included in the confirmation email sent after the dining reservation was made.
