the blog
Cape May Cafe is a fantastic feast of fun located inside the beautiful Beach Club Resort. If you are interested in enjoying a character breakfast outside of the parks, it is a great option to enjoy alongside some of the classic Disney characters. Not only will you have the opportunity to partake in quality breakfast food, but you can also join in a dance party with Minnie and her pals.
Getting There
The Beach Club Resort is located in the Epcot resort area, just a short walk away from the back entrance of Epcot. If you are staying at The Beach Club, The Yacht Club or the Boardwalk Resort, it is a short walk just inside the main building of The Beach Club Resort. Other resort or off-site guests would find it easiest to drive, take a Minnie Van or ride-share to get to the resort. The character meal is only offered at breakfast, making it difficult to first enter Epcot and go to your reservation through the back entrance of Epcot, but this would be a relatively easy option for a dinner reservation.
Hours of operation
Breakfast at Cape May Cafe begins at 7:30am, a great time for early risers to get in their first meal of the day and head off to the back entrance of Epcot as soon as the park opens. For those that like to sleep in a bit or want their meal at more of a brunch time, the restaurant is open for breakfast until 11:30am. Dinner begins at 5:00pm and concludes at 9:00pm, a great way to end a long day of walking in Epcot.
Dress Code
There is no required dress code for this location and what you will find varies greatly at the restaurant.
Characters
Minnie Mouse has invited her pals Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Goofy to her Beach Bash Breakfast. They are decked out in their best “fun in the sun” attire ready to hit the waves and surf alongside you for the morning. Upon arrival you are given a signed card that includes autographs from each of the characters and during your meal each of the characters stops by your table for a hug and picture if you please. Approximately every 30 minutes you will start to hear music playing and the characters spread throughout the restaurant to dance with kids and the kids at heart. If you are wanting to see the characters at Cape May Cafe, make sure to snag a breakfast reservation as they will be out enjoying the sun during the dinner meal time and unable to make a visit with your family.
Menu
The breakfast menu here includes salted caramel “Beach Buns” brough fresh to your table and are the sweet start to your day. At the buffet you will find a selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal with all the fixings, grits, waffles, french toast and the classic scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. Just as you enter the restaurant you will find the omelet bar where you can craft your own omelet with a selection of veggies, meat and cheese. For kiddos in the bunch there are also Mickey and Minnie shaped miniature waffles, chocolate pancakes and tater tots! As always, Walt Disney World does a phenomenal job of accommodating guests with allergies so if there is anything anyone in your party needs to avoid due to an allergen, kindly let your wait staff know and they will make sure to find safe offerings for you to also enjoy!
Following along with the beachy theme, the dinner at Cape May Cafe includes seafood reminiscent of the Northeast. Proteins for this meal include: fried seafood, New England traditional steam boil, sustainable catch of the day, roasted chicken and a carving station, snow crab legs are also available by the pound for an additional charge. Additional buffet offerings include: caesar salad, clam chowder, seasonally inspired soup and salads, paella, vegetables and the classic favorites for kiddos such as pasta, pizza and macaroni and cheese.
A few recommended menu items
It’s a buffet, so give it all a try! If you don’t like something, there are plenty of other options sure to please a palate of any kind.
Overall experience/vibe
The breakfast vibe is cheerful and upbeat as the characters do a phenomenal job interacting with each table throughout the restaurant as well as dancing with individuals at select times throughout the meal. The restaurant is bright with pastel colors, umbrellas and of course the vibrant character costumes. Given the size and location of the restaurant, it is one of your quieter classic character meals, a good option for families that may feel overwhelmed by a larger more open air restaurant.
Dinner is a bit more laid back, buffet style as there are no characters involved for this meal time. Since it is heavy on the seafood options for dinner, if your party is not a fan of this type of cuisine, it may not be the best choice for your family.
Estimated pricing
Breakfast pricing is currently $45 for adults and $29 for children plus tax and gratuity. Dinner is currently $46 per adult and $27 per child plus tax and gratuity. Kiddos under the age of 3 can dine for free, a great perk if you are looking for a character meal with toddlers and food that you know they will enjoy. As a note, Walt Disney World does add gratuity for parties of 6 or more and this is regardless of age, so if you have a child that may be under 3, you will not be charged for their meal, but they will add to the total number in the party for gratuity.
Worth the Value
Overall this is a great value for a character meal for kids and adults. It does not feel rushed, so guests are encouraged to take their time enjoying the buffet and the ambiance. The location is fantastic if you plan to spend the day in Epcot, or if you are looking to see a part of Walt Disney World outside of the parks.
Age Groups Recommended
All age groups can enjoy the breakfast menu at Cape May Cafe, but I would recommend the dinner to adults unless you have a seafood loving kiddo in your crew.
