Tusker House

LOCATION & HOW TO GET THERE

Tucked away in Animal Kingdom in the heart of Africa is this hidden gem of a restaurant. This is a great place to eat when visiting Animal Kingdom and is open early for Breakfast, as well as Lunch & Dinner. Tusker House is themed like a Harambe Marketplace with lively music and a colorful atmosphere.

CHARACTERS YOU CAN MEET

Tusker House is a great place to see and interact with Mickey Mouse, Donald & Daisy Duck, and Goofy! All 4 are dressed and ready for safari. These character meet and greets make for great photo opportunities! My kids loved dancing in the aisle with them.

TYPE OF FOOD

Tusker House offers a variety of dining options. During the Covid-19 pandemic they switched from buffet style dining to family style service. This has gone back to buffet service, but not all guests are happy about it. Personally I loved the family style service with all-you-care-to-eat of your favorites. When traveling with little ones, it was so nice to have someone bring items to the table for us.

At breakfast you will enjoy classic breakfast foods bursting with African flavor. Enjoy favorites like Simba & Mickey waffles, assorted types of eggs, breakfast potatoes, yogurts, other fruits and assorted delicious pastries and sweet breads. Have one dish you are particularly fond of? The all-you-care-to-eat option allows you to have exactly what you love!

Breakfast Options:

  • Mickey & Simba Waffles
  • Eggs
  • Fruit & Yogurt
  • Pastries
  • Breakfast meats; bacon, sausage, ham

Lunch & dinner offer salads, multiple sides, and assorted meat or plant based entrees. The flavors are bolder during lunch & dinner service but we absolutely loved them.

Lunch & Dinner Entree Options:

  • Spit roasted Tandoori Chicken
  • Berbere Marinated Pork
  • Green Curry Shrimp
  • Chicken Curry
  • Za’tar Braised Beef
  • Chermoula Salmon Filets
  • Plus many more options!

If you have picky eaters in your family, I would recommend trying Tusker House for breakfast. The menu items are a little less exotic at breakfast. I always like to review the menu before trying a new restaurant with my kids to be sure there will be items they will enjoy. If your kids are anything like mine, they get cranky when they’re hungry, and we don’t want to sit through a long table-service meal if there are no foods they will like.

I encourage you to review the menu here,

Tusker House also offers a large selection of Beer, Wine, Cocktails and Mocktails to suit any occasion.

MENU ITEMS I LOVE AND RECOMMEND

Tusker House offers bold flavors that will excite your taste buds. My husband agrees that Tusker House was his favorite meal on Disney property. I loved the green curry shrimp, tandoori chicken, and chicken curry.

Tusker House also offers kid friendly options including mini corn dogs, mac & cheese, and chicken legs. My children were big fans of the marinated chicken legs.

The desserts are so cute and themed for Animal Kingdom. We loved sampling all the different options on the Nature Inspired Dessert Trio

HOURS OF OPERATION

Breakfast is served from 8:00 am to 10:30 pm. Lunch is served from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm. Dinner service begins at 3:35 pm to 8:00 pm. If you make an early morning reservation for breakfast, you will have early entry to the park after your reservation. We had a late dinner there, and enjoyed the quiet of the park as we left Animal Kingdom. We got great pictures in front of the Tree of Life lit up at night. Advanced dining reservations are highly recommended and can be made 60 days in advance.

DRESS CODE

Because Tusker House is located in the parks, there is not a strict dress code. Most guests will be dressed very casually, but swimwear without a coverup is not allowed.

OVERALL VALUE & WHO IT’S BEST SUITED FOR

Once you step foot inside this restaurant, you will feel transported to a lively Harambi marketplace. The colorful atmosphere and lively music are a great backdrop to the great food.

Whether you decide to dine for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you will enjoy endless food served buffet style.

Tusker House has a fun, colorful atmosphere and is great for guests of all ages. It is a character dining experience. You must have a valid ticket and park reservation to visit Animal Kingdom. Advanced dining reservations are strongly recommended. It is unlikely to get a reservation unless made 60 days in advance. When you book a travel package you are able to book your reservations 60 days in advance from the start of your vacation package plus the length of your stay. Just another benefit of booking a travel package with Walt Disney World Resort.

Tusker House is priced higher than some other table-service restaurants at Walt Disney World resort. As mentioned above, it is all-you-care-to-eat and includes characters, with prices ranging from  $45-$59 per adult, and $29-$38 per child. When we visit Walt Disney World we like to do 2-3 table service meals during our trip and Tusker House is definitely a family favorite.
