Mother/Daughter Trips

Recently my oldest child turned 10. I wanted to do something extra special to celebrate with her and make memories to last a lifetime. My daughter and I went to Xcaret Mexico in the Riviera Maya, Cancun. My daughter’s friend and her mom joined us also so it was an amazing girls trip.

We spent time in the pool, at the beach, and exploring Xcaret and Xplor parks.

One of the best blessings of taking a girls trip with your daughter is the quality one on one time. She and I were able to talk about what’s going on with her at school and with her friends. I could focus solely on her and follow her lead with plans. We let the girls set the flow of the day, and not make big plans. We did whatever they wanted to do and it was so fun. This will be a tradition that I will be doing with all my kids when they turn 10 now.

On this trip, we swam through caves, ziplined over the trees and snorkeled. When asking my daughter what she loved most about the trip, she said “That I didn’t have to deal with my brothers being crazy the whole time.” I loved being able to spend time with her and make memories with her and not be distracted by other commitments or kids needing my attention.

I remember taking trips with my mom when I was a kid, while ours weren’t exciting like this, I loved having that one on one time with her and we are now incredibly close. That’s the hope I have for my own kids, that even when they are grown and out of the house, they will still desire to spend time with their parents.
