One Tip/Trick that I like to use when traveling with kids is building momentum and excitement for our trip. Whether you tell them months in advance or a few days before, building their excitement will make everyone’s trip more enjoyable.
I couldn’t tell you who was most excited for our Disney Cruise, me or the kids. But I loved finding ideas and items to put into their surprise box! As a Pineapple Escapes Travel Agent, I like to send some extra *pixie dust* to my clients to make their trip more memorable. Here are some ideas I used for my own family…
I love personalized water bottles, and they are great to keep with you while traveling or poolside. The personalization helps us not get them mixed up with someone else’s. I bought these on Etsy.
I made these shirts for the kids with just a few simple items – blank tees from Hobby Lobby, some fabric paint, and a pencil. I had printed a template of Mickey so I traced around that on the shirt.
Then using the pencil eraser, I stamped around the edge of Mickey with different colors, focusing on each child’s favorites. I love how they turned out! If you don’t have time or desire to make your own, there are lots of great designs out there on Etsy or Jane.com you can order easily.
On cruise ships, the doors are magnetic! I made these door tags and attached magnets to the back and took them along to decorate our stateroom door. It was fun to walk along the corridor and see all the fun decorations on everyone’s door.
I found the blankets at Walmart, and they were perfect for the cool airplane and also for lounging by the pool at night watching a movie. I also brought WaterWow! activity books. I love these books for travel because they are not messy and all you need is water to make them work. You can also let them dry and use them again. Perfect for young kids! The Disney Eye Found It game has become a family favorite, and we love Toy Story Uno!
I hope I was able to inspire you to help build excitement for your vacation! My mom always had car surprise bags filled with treats and small toys to keep us happy on road trips and now I’m doing the same! These are just some examples of what I’ve done for the kids recently. As your agent, I would help you with all these small details, to make your trip more magical!
I would love to hear what you do to build excitement for a trip or special treats you have done as surprises during your vacation!
