Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is my favorite resort on Walt Disney World property. I love the relaxed, tropical vibe and the Polynesian is the only resort where you can find my favorite Disney snack – Dole Whip – at the Pineapple Lanai. The Polynesian is located in the Magic Kingdom resort area and is one of Walt Disney World’s deluxe hotel options. It was one of the original hotels that opened in October 1971 and was last refurbished in 2020/2021. The Great Ceremonial House is the resort’s main lobby, with the resort guest rooms dispersed around the property in longhouses. The theming is throughout the resort with torch walkways and gorgeous, tropical landscaping. The resort is on the Seven Seas Lagoon making it a wonderful spot to view the nightly Electrical Water Pageant and fireworks from the Magic Kingdom. The Poly is located on Disney’s monorail system, allowing guests to take the monorail to both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, as well as the other monorail hotels – Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and Disney’s Contemporary/Bay Lake Tower. Bus transportation is available to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, and the water parks.
The Polynesian Village Resort has garden view, lagoon view, and theme park view rooms and suites available. The Polynesian Villas and Bungalows are also an option with deluxe studio rooms and phenomenal over-the-water bungalows. Club level is also available and can be a great option! The King Kamehameha Club includes coffee starting at 6:30 am, morning continental breakfast from 7-10:30 am, snacks from 12-4 pm and evening hot and cold hors d’oevres and snacks, as well as wine and beer from 5-7 pm and desserts from 8-10 pm each day. My family has personally stayed club level several times, and we love the added value and convenience of the concierge lounge! Your favorite Pineapple Escapes agent can help guide you to the ideal room type for your vacation!
Lava PoolFeaturing a towering volcano, waterfall, and waterslide, this pool is a great place to spend a warm Orlando afternoon. It has a zero-depth entry making it a great option for families. Snacks and drinks are available poolside as well.
Kiki Tikis Splash PlayLocated next to the Lava Pool, this water play area is every kiddo’s dream! The playground is for those who are under 48 inches in height, includes two water slides and lots of fun! Oasis PoolLooking to relax and unwind after a day at the parks? This pool is tranquil and great for adults looking to escape.
Bars Barefoot Pool BarEnjoy the beach and views of the Magic Kingdom while sipping on Tiki drinks by this pool bar! We recommend the Lava Smoothie for kiddos and the Frosty Pineapple for adults (Dole whip with rum!!). Oasis Pool BarPoolside bar with food, snacks, and quick-bite options such as pork sliders and fish tacos. A variety of cocktails, beers, and wine are also available. Trader Sam’s Grog GrottoCocktails and appetizers just taste better on the Tiki Terrace. They have some fun pineapple-themed cocktails! Tambu Lounge
This is a great spot to grab a drink after a day in the parks. Some of ‘Ohana’s specialties – such as the noodles and bread pudding – can also be ordered here!
Quick-Service Captain CooksA great grab-n-go option located in the Great Ceremonial House for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I personally love their noodle bowls and flatbreads!
Kona IslandCoffee and pastries for breakfast and dinner options that include grab-n-go sushi and drinks. Kona coffee and bubble tea are fan favorites! Pineapple LanaiDole whip and Dole whip floats can be found on the Pineapple Lanai, just outside of the Great Ceremonial House. Dole whip at our resort? Sounds like a Pineapple Escapes dream come true!
Table-Service The Spirit of Aloha Dinner ShowHeld in Luau Cove, this open-air show features a traditional Luau experience and an all-you-can-eat family-style meal. There are two shows per night – 5:15pm and 8:15pm – and the show is canceled if the temperature is below 50 degrees in the evening to ensure guest comfort. This is a great way to experience a luau and have a true Polynesian cultural experience. ‘OhanaOne of my personal favorite meals on property, ‘Ohana is an excellent choice for a character breakfast or a delicious dinner. At breakfast, Lilo and Stitch are the hosts with interactive fun for all in attendance. Dinner does not include characters, but the food is the star. Skewered meats, the infamous ‘Ohana noodles, and banana bread pudding make this a meal to remember.
Kona CafeBreakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are available at Kona Cafe in the Great Ceremonial House. Breakfast is the star of the show at Kona Cafe with rich Kona coffee (arguably the best coffee on property!) and French toast, omelets, and platters for every palate. My favorite is the Tonga Toast! This breakfast option includes thick slices of sourdough stuffed with bananas and topped with cinnamon and sugar!
The Polynesian is my favorite Walt Disney World resort because I truly love the tropical theme and pineapple touches. Having named our agency Pineapple Escapes, is this really surprising? I love the laid-back tropical vibe, the amazing location on the Seven Seas Lagoon, and easy access to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot via the monorail from this resort. Dining options on-site are delicious as well! I have never had guests stay at the Polynesian and not love the experience and the convenience!
