This week, Laura, Sharon, and Jamie discuss tipping while traveling!

At The Core

Tipping while traveling is a surprisingly fraught issue and many of our clients have very different philosophies regarding tipping.  We share our perspective on tipping and why we tend to all be over tippers.

Disney or Universal Trips

  • Meals – yes, even with the dining plan. Parties of 6 or more have gratuity automatically included.
  • Bell services
  • Mousekeeping
  • Tours

Cruises

  • Pre-paid gratuities
  • Room stewards
  • Waiters/Waitresses
  • Drinks at bars
  • Luggage services

All-Inclusives

  • Sandals and Beaches have a no gratuity policy.
  • Other resorts tips are appreciated.
  • Driver for transfers – $10 per person.
  • Bellboy – $2-5 per bag.
  • Bartenders – $1 per drink.
  • Waiter/Waitress – $5-$20 per meal.
  • Housekeeping – $5-10 per day
  • Excursions – $5-20 per person
  • Concierge – $5-10 per day

Europe and other International Getaways

  • Varies by country
  • Some places it is considered rude to tip

Crushed It

This week’s travel favorite is 4 1/2  pineapple rings and is a pineapple-themed packable cooler.

Jamie’s family likes traveling with a cooler to have snacks and drinks while they are at the beach and Laura’s family also uses a cooler often.  Sharon’s family is more of a “stop as you go” family and they typically don’t travel with a cooler.  Having a nice packable cooler can be a great travel item to help save a few dollars on snacks and drinks when traveling!
