When planning a trip to Disney World with a Pineapple Escapes travel agent, there are many components to consider that need mapping out. Dining experiences are a huge part of the fun and choosing your places to eat are pivotal in making memories too! There are so many places to choose from, how do you narrow down your choices?

The criteria for a great dining experience for me is a solid meal that caters to adults and kids. I often want to avoid the traditional burgers and fries and excite my palate. I want to have a memorable time with my children as well.  What’s a great place to eat with delicious menu options, while getting to shake hands and give hugs to some super spectacular Disney movie characters? Akershus, of course!

Located in Epcot, Akershus is set in a medieval castle. A dining hall where Disney princesses parade and pose for photos is sure to please all in your party! You will need park admission to get to Akershus so do not forget to make this dining reservation part of your time in visiting Epcot for the day! In order to access Akershus you will enter through the main entrance in Epcot and make your way to the Norway Pavilion, near the Frozen Ever After ride. This dining experience can’t be beat! These princesses are authentic, stunning, and super approachable for even the littlest of princess fans.

Mary Poppins, Mulan, Belle, Snow White, Jasmine, Ariel and Princess Aurora are among the popular princesses that make an appearance. Their costumes are bright, colorful, and each princess’ character shines in her smile, her voice, and her walk! If you are looking to see Elsa and Anna, you can meet and greet both at the Frozen ride just next door after you finish your meal. The great thing about this Disney character dining experience is that if you have children who are scared of mascot type of costumes, this setting is free from any characters dressed in such garb, and each princess is in clothing without masks.

The cuisine is best described as Norwegian, including delicious plates of Norwegian waffles, potato casserole, and salad with a tangy lingonberry vinaigrette. Don’t worry, they still carry some kid favorites like corn dog nuggets and macaroni and cheese! Save room for dessert too, the Royal Chef’s Dessert Plate is sure to please!

My personal favorites on the menu are the Norwegian Meatballs and Einstock White Ale. My children devour favs include the chicken and dumplings, of course a plate of mashed potatoes and gravy! Everything is served family style which means plates are sized for sharing, and pricing stands at $41.00 per child (ages 3-9), and adults (considered from age 10 and up) are $63 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

Akershus serves breakfast, lunch and dinner! Dinner starts at 2:45pm and ends at 8:05pm. Breakfast and Lunch will resume as of May 14, 2023. When asking your Pineapple Escapes agent to reserve your dining locations and times, please note that with Akershus, there is a 2-hour cancellation policy. Cancelling at least two hours prior to your reservation is a must to ensure you avoid the $10.00 per person cancellation/no show fee. A credit card is required to reserve this dining experience.

The dress code here is casual for all meals, no matter the time of day. Shorts, t-shirts, sneakers are acceptable. Children are invited and encouraged to dress in costume but it certainly is not required. The vibes are happy, relaxed, and awe inspiring for every child who has dreamed of the day where he or she gets to meet their favorite princess in person.

This venue is suited for all. The joy experienced at this dining experience appeals to the youngest of Disney fans as well as the young at heart! The value for your dollar at this restaurant is pretty great in my opinion, as you’re served family style which is plentiful in its own right, and you’re checking off meeting and greeting so many princesses in one sitting, it’s a no brainer for this mom of 6 for sure!
