All Inclusive Resorts versus Cruising

Which one is right for you?

A vacation is a great investment. You work so hard and deserve a little rest and relaxation. You call upon your Pineapple Escapes travel advisor and tell her you want to plan a getaway! The fun is in deciding what type of escape you want. Your goals are fun, sun, and doing as little as possible. You’ve got a set budget so an all in one plan would work best for you and your party. Your agent asks if you’d like an all inclusive or cruise to consider for your plans. She hits the nail on the head in terms of your goals but you’re conflicted between the two for sure. It’s time to consider the pros and cons of each…All inclusive resort or a cruise vacation, which is right for you?

Let’s start with an all inclusive package for you and the members of your said vacation. Hypothetically, this can be a couples trip, a solo travel trip, a family annual vacation or a group stay. The number in your does not matter, we are looking at what an all inclusive means for your wallet and your time. All inclusive resorts can vary slightly in terms of what is actually included but generally cover the basics of: food(more often than not several dining options to choose from), drinks (alcohol too), room, taxes, fees, pool/ beach access, non motorized sports, etc.

All inclusive resorts cater to clients that want a one stop shop for price. Flights are separate but once you’re at your destination, transfers more than likely are included to and from the airport in your package. Resorts are decadent, staffed with the most gracious or members waiting to cater to you, and the territory of the resort is safe, clean, and inviting! Some all inclusive resorts are adults only, some cater to a clientele that are looking for a party type of atmosphere. You must communicate to your advisor the type of vibes you desire for an experience that suits your needs.

Have your agent speak to the types of cuisine served if you are finicky or have severe allergies. Does the resort serve premium alcohol or is this not a concern  for you and yours?

Generally speaking, an all inclusive resort will host some type of nightly entertainment in their lobby, nightclubs, lounges etc. Some resorts will offer excursions for a nominal fee, or a trip to town for shopping, These can be scheduled by your Pineapple Escapes agent as well! You have options on the type of room you select when booking. Do you want a view of the pool? The beach or a swim up room where you can wade and enjoy a cocktail after hours? The Caribbean is known for its all inclusive resorts, but you can also find a few around that are outside of this region in areas like Florida, Pennsylvania, upstate New York, etc. If you’re desiring multiple destinations in one vacation for a package price, perhaps considering a cruise would be more applicable for your planning.

A cruise, like an all inclusive resort, bundles a package of all your vacation needs but varies in its offerings in a few different ways.  Let’s break down the specifics of a general cruise package to consider for your travels. A cruise is ideal if you would like to visit multiple destinations in one vacation without additional flights, packing and repacking, transportation, etc. Let’s say for example, you want to see a few countries in Europe. A cruise is ideal if you’re limited on time and have a specific budget but still want what you want! A cruise with Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, or even Norwegian Cruise Line can make that happen with the planning assistance of your P.E. travel advisor. A cruise spends an allotted time docked or tendered in one location and you’re free to explore, beach it, or tend to an excursion while there.

A cruise includes multiple dining options too. Some cruises offer set dining times and others offer a freestyle type of dining option. Depending on the cruise line, drink packages may or may not be included in your booking. For instance, Norwegian Cruise Line does include beverages in your package, while Royal Caribbean gives you the option to add a drink package to your booking, with or without alcohol. Entertainment is a great part of cruises, there is so much to do you will not have a dull moment while on the ship! There are clubs for kids so parents can enjoy a little down time. Bars, lounges, nightclubs, eateries for a late night snack, sports, bingo, karaoke and more are all at your fingertips! Think of all that you can do while your cruise captain and his staff do all the work to get you to your next destination!

Cruises have multiple pools, deck entertainment, there is so much to list it’s impossible to include it all! Upon booking, you have a choice of staterooms to choose from, choice of part of the ship you’d like your stateroom, and other fun decisions to make when choosing a cruise. When you compare cruises to all inclusive resort stays, it all comes down to personal preference. Your travel advisor can assist with all the details and booking logistics, when all is said and done, you’ll be headed on the vacation of a lifetime with many memories to be made.
