The Bahamas, located in the West Indies of the Atlantic Ocean, is an amazing place to visit.
Points of interest are Atlantis Paradise Island, Nassau, Exuma (swimming with pigs), Harbour Island, Andros Island (diving and fishing).
Known for Pristine white sand beaches and turquoise water, the Bahama Mama cocktail and the First landing of Christopher Columbus.
We loved staying on Atlantis Paradise Island. We enjoyed the waterpark area and “rapid river.” It’s not really a lazy river because of dips and quick turns and some speed that gets you moving! The water slides were awesome! My kids loved racing down the slides that were also used in the movie, Holiday in the Sun, with MaryKate and Ashley Olson. The slide with the Sharks swimming around your clear tube slide was pretty cool too! Atlantis also has underground aquariums.
We did swim with Dolphins while at this resort at Discovery Cay, that is on property. It was an amazing experience! The Dolphins did tricks and with us and posed for pictures too!
We did take a ferry into town one day to explore. The locals showed us the sheds where they build their floats for the Junkaroo. The Junkaroo is a big celebration and they judge the best floats. They work on these all year by adding little pieces of paper at a time to the float. We actually got to glue on some pieces of paper to a float which was neat!
The food was delicious! We did go to a place under the bridge before heading back to Atlantis where many locals hang out. They have tiny little shacks where they cook the food and you eat outside. We were a little nervous but actually, that was the best food we had from the entire trip!
Conch is very popular and is used in many different ways for several types of dishes.
