This past weekend I traveled by car to Oglesby, Illinois. Our travel group was meeting for a weekend of training, fun, and team bonding. For the record, it was wonderful!
I’ve written and talked a lot about road trips vs. flying. My family is partial to driving on most of our vacations because we enjoy taking our time and stopping at sites along our way to our destinations. My road trip over the weekend reminded me once again of why I enjoy driving so very much!
One of our agents drove over two hours to pick me up for our weekend, and we then drove two more hours to pick up another agent for our trip north. In total the trip was about five hours from my house, and it was the most fun and quick five hours I have had in many months. Keep in mind we did not know each other and had not met in person until we got in the car! (Ok, one lady I knew from college 30 years ago).
We stopped at a gas station, and I bought a jacket. Clothes in a gas station? It was so comical. We now know about everything there is to know from travel to grandbabies. I believe all three of us would agree it was a great time had by all!
I’m not against flying and definitely not against flying and then renting a car, but I do cherish all of the trips my husband and I shared with our kids and all of the memories that were made on our road trips.
