the blog
My family stayed at Caribbean Beach Resort several years ago with another family; we loved the fact they boast connecting rooms! It is one of our favorite resorts because the resort is themed by the names of islands such as Jamaica, Barbados, and Aruba. The relaxing beach area and island music were definitely a draw for us! Each of the buildings has a different floral color, which went right along with the island theme!
The Caribbean Beach Resort is located in the Epcot area of Walt Disney World. It is rated as a moderate resort and was Disney World’s first moderate resort built in 1988. The main hub of the new Disney Skyliner is located south of the Jamaican village and provides easy access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The resort surrounds a beautiful 45-acre lake called Barefoot Bay; here people ride rented bikes, take a walk, or jog. In the middle of the bay is Caribbean Cay, a small island with a picnic area and a playground. Footbridges are located around the bay for easy access to the Cay.
My family also enjoyed visiting Old Port Royale, the main hub of the resort. Here you will find guest reservations, a food court, shops, an arcade, and a sit-down restaurant. You will also find the bike rental and one of seven bus stops for your transportation to the WDW parks. Old Port Royale is also the setting for the main pool, the Fuentes del Morro pool.
Transportation
One of Disney’s Skyliner stations is located at Caribbean Beach Resort. Here you can take a gondola to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
Bus transportation is available to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Disney Springs, and the two Disney waterparks as well as an internal bus transport to transport guests from their hotel room island to Old Port Royale.
Room categories at Caribbean Beach Resort are the Standard View, Water View, King Bed, Preferred Room, Pirate-Themed Room (Standard View), and Pirate-Themed Room (Water view). Most rooms have two queen beds with some having the option of a pull-down murphy bed for a fifth person. If you need the murphy bed, be sure this is requested at the time of reservation. The 5th sleeper options are available in the standard view, water view, and preferred room categories. Each room provides a mini-fridge, a safe, a sink inside the shower area as well as outside so two people can get ready at the same time. The bathroom area is divided by a sliding barn-style door.
The preferred category rooms are located in close proximity to Old Port Royale. The resort has a wonderful walking trail, but because it is so large some people prefer a room that requires less walking. Also to note, there are no elevators located in this resort so if you have accessibility requests you should ask for a room on the first floor.
The pirate-themed rooms feature headboards fashioned to look like pirate ships, with a wood barrel serving as the nightstand. There are two double beds and these special rooms do not have the pull-down Murphy beds available.

Fuentes del Morro
Named for a Spanish fort, the resort’s main pool offers a zero-entry depth that is truly a pirate’s paradise. Kids (and adults!) love the two water slides that are set in a colonial Spanish fortress.
Adults, you will also find a 12-person whirlpool hidden away from the main hustle and bustle of the pool. This is a great place to relax after a day in the parks.
Fuentes del Morro Water Play Area
Resort guests 48″ and under will enjoy their own shipwreck play area with smaller slides and a crow’s nest.
Additional Five Leisure Pools
Each island village has its own leisure pool for guests who do not want to float over to the main hub. These leisure pools are great for guests who just want to take a dip to cool off or maybe catch some rays in one of the poolside loungers.
Restaurants and Bars
Centertown Market
Whether you are looking for a grab-n-go food item or a quick meal, you will find delicious island fare for every member of the family.
Banana Cabana
The Banana Cabana is located just outside of the Port Royale entrance and offers a relaxing area to talk and enjoy island beverages like the Caribbean Smuggler, Hoist the Colors, and of course, a Banana Cabana. This pool bar offers more than just drinks so fill your appetite with chicken wings, loaded fries, Cuban sandwich, and pineapple-coconut bread pudding.
Sebastian’s Bistro
Continue island time at this waterside restaurant offering chicken, steak, or seafood meals inspired by Latin and Caribbean flavors. If you have little ones traveling with you, they will be sure to find something they love from the kid’s menu.
Spyglass Grill
Located on the island of Trinidad, this walk-up counter restaurant is located next to the pool. Sit and enjoy a quick bite while looking out at Barefoot Bay.
In-room Delivery
Sometimes after a day in the park, it is nice to just sit in your room and relax. These evenings are perfect to call and order in-room delivery. Tasty items such as pizza, chicken strips, salads, and more can be delivered right to your door. A menu is located in your room for more information on how to order.
Magical Extras
In addition to bike rentals, hammocks, and the amazing pool, this resort has several extras offered to the kids of your group. Every day there is a pool party hosted at the main pool along with other poolside games. There is also an island dance party that usually occurs in the afternoon with a campfire to follow on the beach. The night will end just outside of Port Royale with a movie under the stars. Check the events calendar for the most up-to-date schedule during your stay. (Additional fees may apply.)
There are also two adventures for kids located at Caribbean Beach Resort. The first is the Islands of Adventure Caribbean Cruise for ages 4-11, a search for treasure and adventure. The second is the Unsolved Mysteries of Barefoot Bay for kids ages 10-16. This is an evening adventure cruise on Barefoot Bay where kids can search the mysteries of pirates of the past and experience an evening of storytelling on this interactive scavenger hunt. (Additional fees apply.)
