Sharon, Samantha, and Niki discuss how to choose a travel agent, including the characteristics you should look for when selecting an agent and their journey to become agents themselves.
While of course we would love for all of our listeners to be Pineapple Escapes clients, we know we may not be the perfect fit for everyone.
The main characteristics that a great agent should have include industry knowledge, excellent customer service skills, understanding the value of your time and your money, being honest and transparent about their services and their knowledge of your travel location, and build a relationship with you, as the client.
Industry knowledge is critical and your agent should be trained regarding the destinations they sell. For Disney, our agents complete the Disney College of Knowledge training. There are numerous other trainings, including Universal, AMResorts, Marriott, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian that we complete as well. We are constantly learning to be able to provide our clients with the best information. Good travel agents travel! And many of us travel frequently to the destinations we sell!
Customer service is also key. Be sure to inquire about any fees or costs when booking. For package bookings booked through us, we do not charge additional fees. Also, timeliness is critical. How quickly is the agent responding to messages and inquiries? Are they knowledgeable and helpful regarding the questions you have?
One of the biggest values of using a travel agent is the money you can save. Agents are constantly working with vendors and understand promotions. For our Disney clients, we apply all new promotions as soon as they are released! You’ll also never have to wait on hold, your agent will do that for you!
Travel agents should always be honest and transparent regarding what you’re booking, how the booking process works, etc.
Over time, you should develop a relationship and a rapport with your agent. You should be able to reach out and they will have a good idea of the type of trip you’re looking for and what would be best for your family, as they have gotten to know you by working with you on past trips. Establishing that relationship can make for some amazing vacations!
Niki, Samantha, and Sharon all joined Pineapple Escapes at different times and for different reasons. In this week’s, Slice of Life, they discuss why they were interested in becoming an agent and why they decided Pineapple Escapes was a good fit!
This week’s travel favorite is 5 pineapple rings and is TSA approved luggage locks.
These locks are stainless steel and are easy to set. They come in black and also in fun colors like neon green!
