Congratulations! You’ve worked with your Pineapple Escapes Travel Agent to book your first Royal Caribbean Cruise. Now what?
Here are five tips you need to know before you embark on your cruise, regardless if you’re sailing the Caribbean Seas or the waters of Alaska.
#1 Download the Royal Caribbean App
There are so many features you will want access to before and during your cruise that are only available in the mobile app. Before you embark, you can purchase a drink and WI-FI packages, spa treatments, and Royal Caribbean-sponsored excursions. During your cruise, the app can be utilized to plan your day by using the daily schedule of events, message other travelers, and navigate the ship using the deck maps.
#2 Your Room Key… Where Is It?
Unlike hotels and resorts, your room key will be outside your stateroom when your cabin is ready. While you may be able to check in and board the ship in the late morning, your room likely won’t be available until the afternoon. The captain will make an announcement when you may go to your room, but until then, you’re welcome to eat, drink, swim, and explore other decks of the ship.
#3 Keep Essentials With You
Your keys will be delivered to your stateroom, and your luggage will be delivered to your room later in the day. This means you should keep all the essentials you need in the afternoon with you. You should also pack your swimsuit with your essentials; pools and hot tubs are usually pretty empty when everyone is boarding, making it an excellent time to splash before you can get in your room.
#4 Book Your Excursions Well In Advance
Luckily, you’re a savvy traveler using a travel agent to book your perfect trip, so you won’t have to worry about this step, but if you booked on your own, book your excursions well in advance. Many of the popular excursions have a limit on the number of travelers during each time slot on port days, so this is a necessity if you don’t want to miss out. I’d also like to note that you do not have to have an excursion booked to get off the ship or book your excursion through Royal Caribbean.
#5 Drink Prices Include Gratuity
This might seem obvious, but tips and gratuities are included in the price if you’ve decided to purchase the drink package or are buying drinks as you go. Having said this, by all means, please tip extra for outstanding service! If you’re unsure whether you should go all-in on the Deluxe Drink Package, ask your travel agent, and they’ll be more than happy to help you decide.
Embarking on your first cruise can be a bit of a learning experience, but don’t worry because we’re here to help! One of the biggest advantages of using a travel agent is having someone to make your trip as seamless and stress-free as possible.
