Something To Look Forward To

The truth is we all need something to look forward to, right?  Especially after the excitement of the holidays is over, and everyone is back at school and work.  January can be a cold and dreary month depending on your neck of the woods.  Sure, I enjoy a nice hot chocolate and watching the falling snow, but after a month of winter weather, I’m definitely ready for spring!  One thing that helps me to get through the winter blues is knowing I have something to look forward to – like an upcoming trip!

January is a great time to plan ahead and get your travel on the books for the upcoming year.  In the travel agent world, we call the span between January and March “wave season.”  Typically, it’s when cruise lines offer some of their lowest fares to travelers planning sailings for the year ahead.  But there are other deals to be found!  Right now, for example, Universal Orlando Resort is running a promotion for park tickets where you can buy 3 days and get 2 FREE!  But whether it’s a cruise, all-inclusive, or other type of vacation, now is the time to start planning.

Do you have plans for spring break?  What about a summer vacation?  Looking to fall, is there somewhere you’d like to go?  Then we’re back to the holidays… what about vacation plans for Thanksgiving or Christmas break?

I don’t have my 2022 schedule completely set, but here are the travel plans I’m looking forward to so far…

For Christmas, I gifted my 16-year-old daughter with a trip for two to New York City!  We were originally scheduled to travel mid-January, but with the recent uptick in Covid cases around the country, we’ve postponed our trip to late February.  We’re planning to see all the sights, including the Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, the Empire State Building, Central Park, a Broadway musical, and more!

Prior to Covid, my mom offered to take me & my girls on a girls’ cruise for my birthday!  And 2022 is the year we are finally hoping to make it happen!  We’re booked on a Western Caribbean cruise out of Miami for spring break.  Our planned itinerary includes two days at sea and stops in Bimini, Bahamas; Costa Maya, Mexico; and Cozumel, Mexico.  My girls have never cruised before, and they’re so excited to set sail!

Every summer, my family road trips to the Pensacola Beach, Florida.  Luckily, my parents and brothers live nearby so it’s the perfect excuse to take a beach vacation at least once a year!  We usually visit the week between Christmas and New Year’s as well.  Like my kids say, it’s our home away from home.  In my opinion, you can’t beat the white sand beaches and turquoise waters of the Emerald Coast.

Last but certainly not least, my family is planning an Alaska Glacier Cruise at the end of July/first week of August.  This is a bucket list item for both me and my husband!  We will be experiencing this adventure along with other family members and several other friends and fellow Pineapple Escapes agents!

As you can see, I have several trips to look forward to in 2022!  Take my advice and start planning yours!  Give yourself something to look forward to… I promise you won’t regret it!
