The Gift That Keeps On Giving

This year for Christmas we gave the gift of travel to our kids! A spring break vacation to Universal Orlando Resort! It came down to their last present. My youngest (who’s 9) opened an interactive wand and my teenage girls (13 and 15) opened their boxes revealing Harry Potter t-shirts. Their gifts also included a ticket for the Hogwarts Express, which was the biggest clue… it took them a second or two before someone asked, “Are we going to Universal?!” I wish I’d taken a video, but I got distracted with the excitement myself!

And then it came time to open my last present. It was from my girls, and they’d made me wait to open it. It was a photo album of “Our Favorite Moments” from our family’s summer road trip to Yellowstone. I immediately teared up. My girls printed pictures from our adventures and took turns writing the captions to go along with all the photos. I flipped through the pages reliving our trip… from the Corn Palace to the Badlands, our stay in a tipi/teepee, hiking to see Grand Prismatic Spring. So many great memories! I couldn’t have asked for a better gift.

In case you’re wondering, travel is a gift that keeps on giving! The memories that we make while traveling last long after the vacation ends. I know my kids will be in awe of the Wizarding World (just like I was!) and will remember their first taste of butterbeer, lol. They’ll never forget our trips to Walt Disney World, visiting Mount Rushmore, or seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time. I really believe that travel is one of the best investments… the gift that keeps on giving. Travel and make lasting memories. I promise you won’t regret it.
