Top 10 Things to do in Las Vegas

Sin City, The City that Never Sleeps, The City of Lights! Las Vegas is a fun place to visit, escape the day to day, and try new things. Everyone who visits Las Vegas loves it – but what is it about Vegas that people love so much and has them coming back? Besides the 24/7 casinos, street bars, and incredible talent lineup, there are so many other fun and exciting things to see and do that are fun for the whole family. Below are my top 10 things to see and do while passing through Vegas!

Number 10 – Walk the Strip

This is a gimme, but I love walking the strip. I like to stay near the middle of the strip and spend one day walking down to Excalibur and Mandalay Bay and another day walking up to the Venetian, Wynn, and Strat. There are even trams you can take up and down the strip (during COVID these were temporarily closed).

Number 9 – Visit the Welcome to Las Vegas sign

This one will require an Uber drive (unless you are feeling really adventurous). Just outside the strip on the Mandalay Bay end, is the iconic Welcome to Las Vegas sign. Visit during the day to get a great shot of the palm trees and Mandalay Bay. At night, you can get a shot with the sign lit up in neon lights. There are sometimes even locals there who will take your photo (sometimes for a small fee).

Number 8 – Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay

A fun, quick trip for the family. The aquarium is located in the back of Mandalay Bay and tickets are required to enter. While this is a quick walkthrough (about 30 mins), it’s a fun experience for families and also a wonderful chance to see the beautiful Mandalay Bay resort. This experience also offers a virtual reality option.

Number 7 – Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage

Located mid-way down the strip at the Mirage. This one also requires tickets and is located outside by the pool. The dolphin show is cute (about 10-15 minutes long) and Siegfried and Roy’s secret garden includes a bunch of large cat habitats.

Number 6 – New York New York Big Apple Coaster

Located both inside and outside the New York New York resort, this roller coaster is fun to do both during the day and at night. There is also an arcade right next to the ride. I suggest New York New York for families. It’s fun and a little more high-end than Circus Circus. The Roller Coaster also offers a virtual reality option.

Number 5 – The Chandelier Lounge at The Cosmo

One of my favorite spots on the strip. The Chandelier Lounge is located right in the middle of the Cosmo and is multi-level and shrouded in a beautiful chandelier with pink lighting. It makes for a great photo backdrop and has some great drinks.

Number 4 – The Bellagio

What isn’t there to do at The Bellagio? The Fountain Show every night, the lobby with the glass flower ceiling, and the rotating Conservatory with a beautiful showpiece. The Bellagio is located in the center of the Strip. Make sure to get a good spot for the fountain show – I found great success with standing on the walking bridge heading toward Paris – you get the light-up Eiffel Tower and balloon in the background.

Number 3 – The Venetian

This resort has incredible theming with fun shops and Gondola rides both inside and out complete with singing gondoliers. It’s very touristy but fun, and you should do it at least once!

Number 2 – LINQ Promenade

This place has it all and is located conveniently in the middle of the strip. You have your go-to spots like In & Out, Ghirardelli’s, Yard House, and a Breeze Daquiri (those giant frozen boozy concoctions). You can also purchase tickets to ride the High Roller (go at nighttime, the lights are so pretty) and the Fly LINQ zipline. There is tons to do for everyone, and it’s in close proximity to all the action happening right in the middle of the strip.

Number 1 – Fremont Street

Looking for something to do off the strip? Uber over to Fremont Street (downtown Las Vegas) and you won’t be disappointed. The whole street lights up at night with music, entertainment, and a giant LED screen overhead. Keep in mind this is still Las Vegas, so you may see some weird things. Visit The Golden Nugget hotel and if you’re looking for dinner, look no further than Evel Pie Pizza (just a short walk from Fremont Street).
