Traveling by Train

Traveling by Train – I have always loved trains. I’m not sure if it was my mom’s stories of monkeys stealing their food through the open window on the trains in India, or the romantic way trains are portrayed in movies. But train travel is something I enjoy. Trains are a great way to see large regions of a country or area without the hassle and busyness of airports. While you may think train travel is only popular in Europe or the movies, you will be surprised to learn that there are a lot of train vacations in the U.S.

If you enjoy sipping wine, then I would highly recommend the Napa Valley Wine Country tour. This 3-hour train journey takes you along the original route built in 1864 and will allow you to visit multiple vineyards along the way. You can stay overnight in one of the beautiful resorts along the way to extend the romance of your trip.

If you would like to see more of  California than just Napa, then soak in the rugged and beautiful West Coast with a trip along the coastline. Start out in Los Angeles and travel all the way to Seattle, WA. You will stop in beautiful Santa Barbara, the San Francisco Bay area, Sacramento, and Portland.

If you love history and the Wild West, then the Grand Canyon Railway is the right choice for your next adventure. This fun railway takes you back in time in a restored railcar and offers travelers lessons in history of the Wild West as well as an opportunity to see some of this country’s most beautiful scenery.

If fall colors are more suited to your interests, then take an 8-day excursion through the New England foliage. This itinerary includes visits to Boston, Plimoth [Plymouth] Plantation, and so many more highlights of the greater New England area.

The last, but certainly not least, train excursion I want to mention is the romantic getaway aboard a Glass-Topped Train. You won’t miss any of the incredible sights in this train car that takes you through the Rocky Mountains, Banff National Park, and a visit to beautiful Lake Louise. Included in your stay is a night at the Chateau Lake Louise, which you may remember from an episode on “The Bachelor.”

Whichever of these trips sound the most interesting to you, your Pineapple Escapes Agent can make it a reality. We would love to book you and your family a fun, exciting train getaway.
