Strap in tight, hold on, and prepare to scream while one of your favorite tunes blast you into a universe of fun! That might be the best way to describe the experience of Rip Ride Rockit Roller Coaster at Universal Orlando, but it is also an adequate description of the entire Universal Orlando Resort. At every turn, there are opportunities for excitement and wonder that few places on earth can match.
When folks think about visiting Universal, they are usually thinking about the Universal Studios Park – and why wouldn’t they? Universal Studios Florida has some of the most breathtaking attractions available in any theme park in America. You can get your blood pumping with a ride on Revenge of the Mummy, Rip Ride Rockit, Fast and Furious Supercharged, or Transformers 3-D. Compete with the family while riding and playing Men in Black Alien Attack. You can even take a sweet ride through New York with Late Night Host Jimmy Fallon. The kids will love the Simpsons Ride and Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. If you take your entertainment with a little less adrenaline, shows such as the Bourne Stuntacular and The Blues Brothers might be just what the doctor ordered. Once you’ve filled up on fun, top off the tank with edible delights from one of the many restaurants like Finnegan’s Bar and Grille, Flaming Moe’s, or Mel’s Drive-in.
Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to run for your life while being chased by velociraptors? Of course you have! Universal’s Islands of Adventure VelociCoaster is there to help you put some “teeth” into that daydream! Once you’re warmed up, you can continue the rush by riding Skull Island: Reign of Kong, The Incredible Hulk Coaster, and The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman (I dare you to ride just once). The kids (big and small) are going to love Pteranodon Fliers (big kids have to have a small kid to in order to ride) and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Fair warning, you might have a hard time getting the kids to leave Seuss Landing! When it comes to Gastric Delights, Islands has you covered as well; Mythos Restaurant is an awe-inspiring, award-winning, fine dining experience, or, if you want something a bit more rowdy, try eating amongst the dinosaurs at Thunder Falls Terrace. As evening descends, you might opt to relax and catch the Poseidon’s Fury show.
Wait a minute, I can hear you thinking, what about Harry Potter? Fear not, fellow traveler, because no matter which Universal theme park you find yourself in, Harry Potter’s universe is waiting for you. At Universal Studios Orlando, you can visit the mysterious Diagon Alley. Pay a visit to Ollivander’s to be matched to your very own wand (careful, these things are powerful)! Enjoy a drink in the Leaky Cauldron, take out a loan of excitement riding Escape from Gringotts, or get your Quidditch supplies at Quality Quidditch! Once you’re done, hop on the Hogwarts Express and make your way to Islands of Adventure, where you can pay a visit to the enchanted village of Hogsmeade. Harry was only able to come down to the village a few times during the school year, but you can spend all the time you like browsing the sweets at Honeydukes and finding cool collectibles at Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods. No trip to Hogsmeade would be complete without a spin on Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. Get your fill with a meal at the Three Broomsticks, and be sure to grab a mug of Butterbeer (frozen, warm, or chilled)!
It can get warm in Orlando. Ok, that’s an understatement, it can get downright hot! Never fear though, Universal has you covered (with lots of cool water), at Volcano Bay Waterpark. If you’re looking for a continuation of the excitement and adrenaline, make your way over to Krakatau Aqua Coaster or one of the other numerous waterslide adventures. If relaxation is the recipe you seek, try hanging out on Waturi Beach or perhaps rent a cabana and bask in the breeze! When the time comes for refreshment, order one of the Mango BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich from Kohola Reef Restaurant and Social Club, or perhaps indulge in a drink from Dancing Dragons Boat Bar.
Some people like to settle down when the sun gets low, but CityWalk is coming alive as day turns toward night. With an enormous choice of shops, bars, restaurants, and fun events, CityWalk is the perfect place to enjoy a cool Orlando evening with family and friends. Catch a movie at Universal Cinemark or play a friendly round of putt-putt at Hollywood Drive-in Golf. No matter how you like to find fun, there is something for everyone at CityWalk!
At some point, even the die-hard fun-seekers need a place to take a break and get some rest. Universal Orlando Resort boasts eight different hotels that meet a variety of budgets. Whichever hotel you choose, rest assured that you can count on quality service, real comfort, thoughtful staff, and good food! Perhaps the best part is that there is near-continuous bus service to the Universal Parks from each of the eight hotels, plus a water taxi at four of the resorts so no matter where you stay, you’re never far from the fun!
