Part I

As I mentioned in my last blog featuring Hotel Xcaret Mexico, I will go in-depth on all the Xcaret Parks and Tours for you.  In this post, I will focus on Xcaret Park, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, and Xoximilco.  In another, I will focus on Xenses, Xel-Ha, Xavage, Xenotes, Xichen, Tulum, and Coba. 

If you are staying at Hotel Xcaret Mexico or Xcaret Arte, transportation to and from these parks is included with your hotel stay, along with entrance into these one-of-a-kind experiences.  These parks are unlimited with your stay at Hotel Xcaret Mexico and Xcaret Arte – you can go to them as often as you like.  This is an exceptional added value to your stay at Hotel Xcaret Mexico and Xcaret Arte. Shuttles run every 30 minutes to Xcaret, Xenses, Xpolr, and Xplor Fuego.  Look for the busses with straw/thatch on top of them.  Transportation to the other parks is included with your reservation; contact your hotel’s concierge one day in advance.

There is also a Photo Pass system at these parks where you scan your bracelet at photo locations in the parks and take a picture.  You then have an option to purchase the downloads of these pictures. 

*Important Note – only sunscreen/sunblock containing titanium oxide and zinc oxide is allowed in the park.  If your products don’t meet these requirements, you can exchange your sunscreen for a free sample of a biodegradable product and your product will be returned as you leave Xcaret.

Now let’s discuss all these eco-friendly parks and tours!

Xcaret Park

An eco-park with more than 40 attractions with something for the whole family.  You can swim in underground rivers, explore jungle trails, tour a butterfly pavilion, discover a coral reef aquarium, see wildlife (jaguars, flamingos, exotic birds, and deer), experience a nighttime special – Xcaret Mexico Espectacular presentation, see Papantla Flying Men, and pre-hispanic dances.  There is so much to do in this park you will need to plan on a full day to try and take in all the activities this amazing eco-park has to offer.  Remember to wear comfortable beachwear, swimming suit, and water shoes are recommended.

*Must show ID at the park! Children over 4 feet 8 inches but under 12 years of age must present identification to verify their age.

Included in this park are the following:

• -Open Monday-Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. (Hours of operation are subject to change)
• -Kids under 4 years of age are free and children 5-11 are half the adult price
• -Tours in 3 underground rivers (a secure bag is provided for your belongings)
• -Access to the beach, inlet and natural pools
• -Xcaret México Espectacular presentation (dinner is a separate fee)
• -Visits to the Butterfly Pavilion, Coral Reef Aquarium, and the Aviary
• -Tropical jungle trail
• -Mayan Ruins
• -Horse Exhibition, Papantla Flying Men, and Pre-Hispanic Dances
• -Life jackets and inner tubes
• -Lounge chairs, hammocks, and rest areas
• -Restrooms, dressing rooms, and showers

• -Other services (WiFi, ATMs, and shops)
• -Xcaret Plus Option $ – access to Plus Area facilities (dressing rooms, restrooms, and lockers). One lunch buffet. Includes one beer and unlimited non-alcoholic beverages (soft drinks, flavored waters, and coffee) while consuming food.
• -Snorkeling equipment rental costs $10.99 USD (requires a refundable deposit of $25 USD)
• -For those visitors with food included in the tour, the snorkeling equipment is without extra charge. It is delivered in the lockers of the Cove and Beach (requires a refundable deposit of $10 USD)

Extra adventures available for purchase (separate fee paid at the park entrance) include the following:

Paraxute – Ride a jetski to the starting point, where you will parasail up to 600 feet in the air and admire all the spectacular views! Duration is a total of 30 minutes with jet ski travel.

Snuba Family – This is a family adventure (with a minimum age of 9 years) at the beach edge where everyone can enjoy this new snuba experience with a guide.  Duration with instruction is 1 hour.

Snuba Reef – This adventure takes you offshore to a reef named “Barracuda” to enjoy this snuba experience, unlike Snuba Family where you stay at the beach edge (Minimum age is 12 years). Duration with travel and instruction is a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Sea Trek – Enjoy walking around at the bottom of the sea with an innovative helmet allowing you to freely breathe underwater (Minimum age is 8 years). Duration time with instruction is 30 minutes.

Adrenalina – This thrilling speed boat will take your breath away while performing 360 degree turns across the sea (Minimum age is 9 and must be 4ft. 3 inches tall). It is highly recommended to not eat an hour before this activity!

Adventure Kids – Children will have the opportunity to learn about nature at Xcaret Park and interact with stingrays in a controlled environment in a natural lagoon.  Minimum age: 5 to 10 years old only (The child must be accompanied by an adult who will not participate in the activity but must remain on-site during the 40 minutes looking after him/her)  This activity is offered at 2 and 5 p.m. and the duration is 30 minutes.

Dolphin Ride – This is the activity for you or your child if you want to interact with some dolphins.  With this activity you will learn about dolphin anatomy, physiology, behaviors, and activities include dolphin’s kiss, look, hug, sing, claps, tail claps, free jumps, controlled free swimming, dolphin ride, and a farewell.  Children 8 years old or under a height of 3ft 6 in must be accompanied by an adult (both pay).  Duration is 45 minutes with 15 minutes of instructions and 30 minutes of interaction.

Sharks a Hands-on Adventure -With this activity you will learn about the timid nurse sharks.  You will have the opportunity to pet, feed, and snorkel with these amazing sharks with a certified instructor. This activity is available at 11:15 a.m, 12:35, 1:55, 3:15 and 4:35 p.m.  The duration of the event is 45 minutes and the minimum age is 8 accompanied by a paying adult and must be 4 feet tall.

Stingray Encounter – This activity will allow you to feed and snorkel with friendly stingrays in the clear Caribbean waters, where you will learn about their behavior and the conservation efforts at Xcaret Park. This activity is available at 11:15 a.m., 12:30, 1:45, 3:00, and 4:15 p.m. (subject to weather conditions). Confirm your activity upon arrival at the park to choose your schedule.  Maximum depth is 16 feet and the duration is 45 minutes.  Minimum age is 5 years old (children under 10 years old must be accompanied by a paying adult).

Stingray Sea Trek – This activity lets you walk underwater at a depth of 12 feet while you wear a sea trek helmet that allows you to breathe underwater.  You will be able to touch and feed the stingrays in their natural environment.  This activity is available from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (each hour).  Maximum depth is 12 feet and duration is 45 minutes with 15 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes underwater.  Minimum age is 8 years old (it is important to try on the Sea Trek helmet).

Temascal Xcaret – Are you ready to reconnect with nature and enjoy an ancient Mayan steam bath?  This spiritual opportunity will enable pure physical and mental relaxation. The Temascal in Mexico is an ancient ritual that consists of unifying the four elements in a process that includes herbal aromatic vapors created by the interaction of volcanic stones with fresh water from park Xcaret. At the end, refresh in the underground rivers of Xcaret for a complete experience of purification. This activity is available at  2:00, 3:45 and 5:30 p.m.  Duration is 1 hour (10 min welcome, 10 fire ceremony, 10 steam bath, 25 steam bath in Temascal and 15 bath in river pool).  Minimum age is 10 years old.  *The use of t-shirt and jewelry is not permitted.  *Do not wear contact lenses.

Snorkel Tour – The adventure begins with a boat ride to a nearby reef, where you will experience sea life at its best.  Expert guides will show you the beautiful coral as you are immersed in the natural beauty of the sea.  This activity is available at 11:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.  Maximum depth is up to 16 feet.  Duration is  1 hour 30 min (15 boat trip to reef, 15 instructions, 45 in the water and 15 back to the park).  Minimum age is 5 years old (must be accompanied by a paying adult, important to know how to snorkel).

Xpa – Enjoy the natural beauty of Xcaret Park with a calming massage in this peaceful setting.  You can choose from 2 complete messages to pamper your senses and soothe your body.  Times for 25-min massage: 11:15 a.m., 1:20 p.m. and 3:25 p.m. Times for 50-min massage: 10:00 a.m., 12:05 p.m. and 2:10 p.m.

Mexico Espectacular Dinner – Xcaret Mexico Espectacular is included with your admission to the park, but if you want to really enjoy the show with a 7-course meal and drinks, then you will need to add this option in advance or at the park.  Included with this show is a 7-course gourmet dinner (vegan option available), preferred seats and glass of sparkling wine, two glasses of red or white wine, and unlimited non-alcoholic beverages during the show.

Xplor Park

A park where you can enjoy it all, activities of adventure, with the most modern and safest equipment. Enjoy thrilling zip-lines, drive amphibious vehicles, explore caves, and gaze at the ancient formations of stalactites and stalagmites in the underground rivers.

Xplor offers a delicious buffet with options for everyone, from salads to pizza for those willing to have more energy.

Discover the newest activity at Xplor. Underground Expedition will take you through 800 yards of caverns, aquatic slides, and jungle trails with incredible views. Choose your path through this adventure, either on a contemplative path or an obstacle-filled path!  Wear comfortable beachwear, a swimming suit, shoes for water use, and bring a towel and extra clothes.

Children over 5 feet but under 12 years of age, must present identification to verify their age.   At Xplor and Xplor Fuego, to guarantee your safety and to ensure that harnesses are comfortable and fit each of our visitors correctly, a minimum weight of 88 lbs (40 kg) is required, and a maximum weight of 300 lbs (136 kg). The maximum circumference of the harness around the waist is 51 in (120 cm) and 27 in (65 cm) around each leg.

Included in this park are the following:

• – Open Monday-Saturday from 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. (Hours of operation are subject to change)
• – Minimum age is 5 and children 5-11 are half the price of an adult ticket
• – Two circuits with seven zip-lines each (2.4 mi total distance) which include the tallest in Riviera Maya
• – Amphibious vehicle to drive through jungle paths and flooded caves
• – New activity: Underground Expedition. Hike, slide, and explore through 800 yards of an adventure under the Earth
• – Rafts through an underground river paddling with special hand paddles
• – Stalactite river swims inside ancient caves
• – Hammock Splash
• – Spelunking hike

Xplor Fuego Park

This is the same park as Xplor but at night the park comes alive with lots of fire!  Experience night gliding in incredible ziplines surrounded by the starry sky, drive by the rainforest in amphibious vehicles, through mysterious caverns, and dive into the refreshing waters of an underground river.

Besides all the fun, at Xplor Fuego you can enjoy an energetic buffet and all the healthy beverages you want, giving you the most exciting night of Cancun and the Riviera Maya Adventure. Wear comfortable beachwear, a swimming suit, shoes for water use, and bring a towel and extra clothes.

• – Swim in the 383 yard (350 m) stalactite river inside ancient caves
• – Underground river rafts of 623 yards (570 m) paddling with special hand paddles
• – Hammock Splash
• – Spelunking hike
• – BBQ buffet with delicious ribs (vegetarian options available)
• – Unlimited non-alcoholic beverages (coffee, hot chocolate, and fresh flavored waters)
• – Locker for two
• – Rest areas, dressing rooms, and restrooms

Xoximilco Park

Get your dancing shoes on for this adventure and be prepared to enjoy that real Mexican Tequila!  Experience Mexican folklore like you never have before on gondolas while enjoying authentic Mexican cuisine and an open bar!

*Temporary – the fresh flavored-waters and ‘esquites’ at the Welcome Carnival will not be available, and the Mojigangas show as well. Also, due to the contingency, each gondola has a maximum capacity of 12 guests.

Important note: the maximum weight per gondola is 6614 lbs (20 guests approximately)  Minimum recommended age is 5 years old.

Included with this authentic Mexican festivity is the following:
